MoMath Mini-Camps:
February 2022

Monday, February 21
Tuesday, February 22

Come join MoMath for in-person and online mini-camps on February 21 and 22.  Through interactive theme-based lessons and creative hands-on projects, math will come alive for each and every participant!

In-Person Mini-Camps

“Hiding Behind Numbers”

Gdkkn Bncdaqdzjdqr!  Cryptography is the area of mathematics that allows us to send and unravel secret messages.  Discover how numerical tricks can keep our secrets safe and learn how to make (and break!) secret codes.  Join us to become a mathematical spy.  (Monday and Tuesday mini-camps will have different activities and codes, with each day designed to surprise.  Sign up for one or both.)  These sessions are appropriate for students in grades 1 – 3 and grades 4 – 6, respectively.
Note: Please register each camper separately.

Online Mini-Camps

“Fold, Build, Connect: The Mathematics of Paper”

“Math” and “paper” in the same sentence can mean a surprising amount of fun!  Together, we will create shapes, study patterns, and construct fascinating objects.  Learn how ideas from geometry, topology, and number theory arise from simple cuts and folds.  Explore various ways that paper can help us understand math.  This session is appropriate for students in grades 6 – 9.
Note: Please register each camper separately.

“Game like a Mathematician”

Games are not only fun to play, but fun to solve!  Mathematicians have invented many games that present challenging math problems, some of which are still unsolved.  Join us to learn, play, and analyze intriguing mathematical strategy games.  These sessions are appropriate for students in grades 3 – 5 and 4 – 6, respectively.
Note: Please register each camper separately.

Mini-Camp Policies

Each mini-camp will run only if a minimum number of participants registers.  If a particular mini-camp is cancelled, registrants will be notified and provided with the option to: (1) switch to a different session, if possible; (2) credit the amount paid to a future session; or (3) receive a full refund.

For in-person mini-camps, note that masks must be worn at all times inside the Museum and that all visitors ages 12 and older must show show proof of having received at least two COVID-19 vaccine doses (unless they have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine), while visitors ages 5 to 11 must show proof of having received at least one dose.  By registering, all campers agree to the full terms and conditions of MoMath’s Photograph Permission and Release Agreement.

MoMath reserves the right to cancel the registration of any student who does not meet the age requirement of the class or does not abide by MoMath’s program policies; cancelled registrations will not be eligible for refunds or credits.

Spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.  All registered campers must sign a photograph permission and release form.

Be sure to read the Educational Programs Policies prior to registration.
