Math Encounters: "Mathematical Storytelling: How math can be critical in discovery and decision-making"

Wednesday, September 1 at 7:00 pm ET (New York)

(in-person event)

Join Princeton University Professor William A. Massey for a discussion of mathematics with real-world relevance.  How can standing on a hexagon help keep you safe?  What 3-dimensional coordinate system changed our understanding of the Bible?  And what mathematical discovery literally changed our understanding of the world?

Special introduction by Peter Winkler, William Morrill Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Dartmouth College.

This event will take place in person at MoMath at 11 East 26th Street.

All in-person seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please arrive 15 to 30 minutes before the event to complete registration.

In light of the current COVID situation, MoMath is temporarily suspending the provision of food during Math Encounters.

Note that masks are required to be worn at all times inside the Museum, and all visitors must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to be admitted to the Museum.  To learn more, go to visit.momath.org.
