The 9th Gathering for Gardner (G4G9) starts today in Atlanta. MoMath’s Executive Director, Glen Whitney, will make a presentation about the Museum, and George Hart, the Museum’s Chief Content Advisor, will lead a group build-in.

Joel Klein, Chancellor of New York City Schools, toured the Math Midway today. Chancellor Klein saw firsthand how hands-on activities can be used to illustrate mathematical principles. He also heard museum organizers describe their vision for the Museum’s role in improving mathematics education in America. Afterwards, Chancellor Klein described the Math Midway succinctly: “Great exhibit.”

The Math Midway traveling exhibition opened today at the New York Hall of Science. Through April 18, visitors will be able to enjoy the square-wheeled trike, giant geometric puzzles, engrossing tile wall, carnival-themed booths, and more.

MoMath staff participated in a two-day conference organized by the Sloan and Templeton Foundations. At the conference, the attendees learned about teaching techniques that stimulate interest in mathematics, applicable to all types and levels of learners. International experts spoke about the latest ideas in mathematics education in the U.S., Hungary, Hong Kong, and other countries.
