Celebrate mathematics and team spirit by signing up for the 2026 Suffolk County MoMathlon, presented by the National Museum of Mathematics and hosted by Brookhaven National Lab.  Teachers who have brought teams before insist on returning year after year.  The opportunity for students to grow mathematically is unsurpassed, the problems are clever, engaging, and challenging, and the atmosphere is exciting for students and teachers alike.

The 2026 Suffolk County MoMathlon will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Brookhaven National Laboratory located in Upton, NY in Long Island.  For maps and directions, please visit bnl.gov/maps.  Check-in starts at 8:30 am, the tournament will begin at 9:00 am and end no later than 2:00 pm.

Schools are invited to register five-member teams of students in grades 7 and 8 to compete.  Coaches may choose to allow advanced students in grade 6 to participate.  The registration fee per team is $50.

Each team must be accompanied by a teacher or chaperone who will proctor a team from another school.  Please note that chaperones must be school staff, not parents.  Additionally, all students are required to have their parent or guardian submit an online photo release form prior to tournament day (found here: momath.org/momathlon/photorelease).  Students should bring writing utensils.  Transportation will NOT be provided, so please arrange for your own transportation.

Calculators will not be permitted.

Every student will receive a certificate of participation and a goody bag of prizes, and awards will be given to high scoring individuals and teams.

This tournament is open to all schools throughout Long Island (Suffolk and Nassau counties).  Each team consists of five students, and each school may bring at least one team.  As space allows, schools may be allowed to bring additional teams; however, spots for additional teams will not be released until one week prior to the tournament, in order to allow all schools the opportunity to register at least one team.  Schools may submit a registration request for a second team at any time, and any remaining spots in the tournament will be released to the waiting list in the order the request was received.  Each team will be required to pay the team registration fee.

Registering a team will not immediately require a credit card payment nor a list of student names, so please register your team at your earliest convenience.  All registrations are reviewed and then approved for acceptance to the tournament.  Once a team is accepted, whether it is the first team or the fourth team, registrants will be given exactly 24 hours to secure the spot with payment before the spot is automatically offered to the next team on the waiting list.  Please be sure to add tournament@momath.org to your address book to ensure delivery of MoMathlon communications.

Registration will close when capacity has been reached, and no later than Friday, March 6.
