The Mathematics of Sudoku Solutions
Featuring Dr. Tim Chartier and Dr. Wesley Hamilton of MathWorks
Tuesday, May 9 at 7:00 pm ET
(online)
Join Tim Chartier and Dr. Wesley Hamilton of Mathworks to explore the exciting mathematics that can be used to solve Sudoku puzzles of any size. We will discuss linear programming, a common computational method to solve optimization problems, and see it applied to Sudoku puzzles. Moreover, learn to use MATLAB, the scientific computing programming language, to implement these linear programming methods and be able to solve any and all Sudoku puzzles we can come up with. Complimentary MATLAB licenses will be provided so participants can directly engage with the code themselves and solve their own puzzles.
This online session is appropriate for adults and students with a knowledge of matrices and introductory linear algebra (generally, middle school and up).
