Math Corps is a summer math program founded 32 (which is 100,000… in base 2) years ago by Dr. Steven Kahn, Professor of Mathematics at Wayne State University and Director of the Center for Excellence and Equity in Mathematics.  Originally known as the Wayne State University Math Corps, the program was established as a combined mathematics enrichment and mentoring program for Detroit public school students with the philosophy of “Loving and Believing in Kids.” Since its inception over 30 years ago, Math Corps has achieved dramatic results and garnered national recognition and widespread acclaim.  The program now serves over 400 middle school and high school students per year in Detroit and over 1,000 students in replicated sites across the country.

Dr. Kahn will be interviewed by Alex Kontorovich, Professor of Mathematics at Rutgers University and MoMath’s 2020–2021 Distinguished Visiting Professor for the Public Dissemination of Mathematics.  Come hear Dr. Kahn's incredible and inspiring story of overcoming massive obstacles to provide Detroit's children with the kinds of educational and lifetime opportunities that all children should have.
