### All About That Base

*Lyrics by Steven Mudrick*

*Sung to the tune of “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor*

**PART 1: For the problem 7 to the second power**

Just make it

All about that base

’bout that base, no trouble!

All about that base

’bout that base, no trouble!

Make it all about that base

’bout that base, you’ll have no trouble!

All about that base

’bout that base (base base base)

Yeah, it’s pretty clear, you can’t just grab the two

You just can’t take it take it

And multiply it through

We got those rules rules

that all the students chase

Put all the right numbers in all

The right places

I see you took the base

Then multiplied by two (Waooh)

We know that stuff ain’t real

You don’t know what to do

We’ve got mathematics steps,

So don’t put up a fight

You multiply the base (twice)

If you want to do it right

Yeah, my math teacher told me

it shouldn’t be such a fight (wop wop, whaooo wop wop)

He said, “Students like you want a little more homework to do at night” (that homework homework, that homework)

You know you won’t be no uneducated math student tonight (wop wop, whaooo wop wop)

As long as you multiply the base by itself… you’re doing it right.

**PART 2: For the problem 7 to the 3rd power, and others like it**

Just make it

All about that base

’bout that base, no trouble!

All about that base

“bout that base, no trouble!

Make it all about that base

’bout the base, you’ll have no trouble!

All about that base

I’m bringing mathematics back

Go ‘head and tell them other students that! (No, I’m just calculating.)

I know you think it’s whaaaack!

There’s a base and an exponent on the bottom and the top

Yeah, my math teacher told me

About using other exponents too (wop wop, whaooo wop wop)

He said, “Multiply the base by itself that many times too.” (Just do it do it, just do it!)

This tells you how many times to multiply the base to make it right (wop wop, whaooo wop wop)

If you do it this way you can do it without any help

**PART 3: For the problems 2 to the 4th power multiplied by 2 to the second power, and 3 to the 4th power divided by 3 to the second power**

When you multiply

You know it’s easy too

It’s just adding exponents

Like you’re supposed to do

Then there’s division too and what it’s about

You just subtract exponents

And you won’t have any doubt

Yeah, my math teacher he told me

That this is no problem at all (Wop wop, Whaooo wop wop)

“Multiplying and dividing exponents is like having a ball.” (It’s really easy. You know it’s easy easy)

You know you won’t be no uneducated math student tonight (wop wop, whaooo wop wop)

As long as you multiply the base by itself… you’re doing it right.

Just make it

All about that base

’bout that base, no trouble!

All about that base

’bout that base, no trouble!

Make it all about that base

’bout that base, you’ll have no trouble!

All about that base

’bout that base

Just make it

All about that base

’bout that base, no trouble!

All about that base

’bout that base, no trouble!

Make it all about that base

’bout the base, you’ll have no trouble!

All about that base

’bout that base

Just make it

All about that base

’bout that base, no trouble!

All about that base

’bout that base, no trouble!

Make it all about that base

’bout the base, you’ll have no trouble!

All about that base

’bout that base
