Image Manipulation: from
Instagram-like filters to fun house mirrors
Featuring Dr. Tim Chartier and
Dr. Wesley Hamilton of MathWorks
Monday, June 5 at 7:00 pm ET
(online)
Digital images are constructed from pixels and can be treated as matrices with thousands and even millions of entries. We'll take an image and learn to filter it mathematically using both linear and nonlinear operations, taking advantage of the computational power of MATLAB. By the end, your social media account may never look the same!
Hosted by Dr. Tim Chartier, MoMath’s Distinguished Visiting Professor for the Public Dissemination of Mathematics, and featuring special guest, Dr. Wesley Hamilton of MathWorks, the company that makes MATLAB.
Complimentary MATLAB licenses will be provided so participants can directly engage with the code themselves and apply their own personal filters to their photos.
