Composite: Call for proposals
Calling all mathematical artists…
Display your artwork in Composite!
The National Museum of Mathematics invites you to submit your original artwork ideas for display in the premier mathematics museum in the United States. Composite offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have your work seen by people from all over the world.
How to submit your proposal
Submissions should be emailed to composite@momath.org and will be evaluated on a rolling basis for shows beginning in 2026.
Submission requirements
Your submission should include the following components:
- A one-paragraph overview of the proposed show. Think of this as the sort of text we might use to advertise the show. Make sure the connection to mathematics is evident in this description.
- A longer (no more than one page) description of the proposed show. The longer description should include information about the type and number of pieces and any other details you wish to share.
- A budget for the show. Your budget should include the following costs: materials, transit (in both directions), installation, and production of wall texts.
- A list of assessed valuations of the pieces to be included so that MoMath can estimate insurance costs.
Note that MoMath is a not-for-profit on a limited budget. With that in mind:
- You can include an artist’s fee in your budget if you like (which should cover your time, travel costs, etc.), but note that priority will likely be given to shows with lower total costs.
- If you have outside financial support from a university, a patron, etc., please make note of that.
