Recording of Statistics in the STEM Classroom: Real-Life Applications and Impacts with Aleida Perez, Allen Mincer, Matthew DeMarinis, Heidi Reih, James Tanton, Jordan Pekor, John Hirdt, LoriAnn Pawlik, and Patrick Honner

This is a recording of a live-streamed event that took place on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Appropriate for math and physics educators (and other adults).

Join us for a stimulating conversation about making connections between the real world and the classroom.  In the summer of 2020, physics and math educators participated in a two-day workshop on statistics and hypothesis testing, hosted by Dr. Allen Mincer, a physicist from New York University.  The workshop was a collaboration between the National Museum of Mathematics, New York University, and Brookhaven National Laboratory.  Discussions centered on hypothesis testing as it relates to the trigger system of the ATLAS experiment at CERN and possible pitfalls in the process of hypothesis testing.  Hear from participating teachers about their experiences and how Dr. Mincer's lectures and feedback helped them prepare classroom lessons with real-world relevance.
