Math with Bad Drawings
by Ben Orlin

Join MoMath's 2022–2023 Distinguished Visiting Professor Tim Chartier and author Ben Orlin for a discussion of Ben's Math with Bad Drawings, which reveals to us what math actually is; its myriad uses, its strange symbols, and the wild leaps of logic and faith that define the usually impenetrable work of the mathematician.  Truth and knowledge come in multiple forms: colorful drawings, encouraging jokes, and the stories and insights of an empathetic teacher who believes that math should belong to everyone.  Math with Bad Drawings is a life-changing book for the math-estranged and math-enamored alike.

This is an online-only event; all registrants will be participating remotely.  Occasional video recordings are made available for a fee at videos.momath.org.

Participants should read Math with Bad Drawings ahead of the event.

Order your book today from Additions, the shop at MoMath, and help support the premier math museum in North America while also scoring free admission for your teen or tween to this engaging conversation with author Ben Orlin.  Just place your order online or stop by the shop, then forward or email an image of your receipt to additions@momath.org along with the name of the teen/tween you wish to register, free of charge, for this interesting group discussion, hosted on Zoom.
