QED, a conversation about math and math education:
Teaching algebra during a pandemic
Featuring Robert Calderbank
Hosted by Ingrid Daubechies
Thursday, January 11
6:30 pm to 7:30 pm ET
(online)
This January, Robert Calderbank from Duke University joins Distinguished Visiting Professor Ingrid Daubechies for an engaging conversation about math and math education, particularly about teaching algebra during a pandemic.
As an applied mathematician, Robert is known for contributions to voiceband modem technology and quantum information theory, and for the co-invention of space-time codes for wireless communication. His research papers have been cited more than 60,000 times and his inventions are found in billions of consumer devices. As Director of the Rhodes Information Initiative at Duke University (iiD), he launched the +Programs, which have introduced hundreds of students doing undergraduate research at Duke to problem-focused team activities.
