"Puppets and Props and
Math — Oh My!"

featuring Dave Privett
with Tanya and Tim Chartier

Friday, December 8
6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

(in person)

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy are more than puppets — they’re beloved friends.  They look real, they move like they are real, and they live in worlds that feel real.  Mathematics plays a big role in creating that reality.  While Kermit the Frog is a 3D puppet, he starts as a 2D pattern.  The process of creating such patterns for both the puppets and their props, and figuring out how to make the puppets move, connects to many mathematical ideas, from geometry to calculus.  Watch a 2D pattern become a 3D shape before your very eyes, then learn about the math of movement.  Let’s become MoMath puppeteers together!

Family Fridays is designed to bring family members of all ages together to enjoy a diverse array of engaging mathematical activities, promoting interest and enthusiasm among kids and adults alike.

Thanks to the generous support of Two Sigma, this program is free to attendees.
