How could there be something we don't know about arithmetic — didn't we learn it all in third grade?  But here’s a problem whose solution we don’t know: What is the fastest way to multiply? And another: How many different numbers appear in a large multiplication table? Dartmouth mathematician Carl Pomerance reveals the hidden mysteries of multiplication and addition in this surprising reexamination of grade-school math.

Special introduction by Cathy O’Neil, data scientist and author of upcoming book, Weapons of Math Destruction.
