Did you ever wonder what a mathematician does all day?  Or what made someone decide to become a mathematician?  Or even, what a mathematician does for fun?  You may be surprised by some of the answers!  Join host Alex Kontorovich as we bring diverse and talented guests to the MoMath stage to share their experiences, their stories, and their love of mathematics.

This month, meet Steven Strogatz, preeminent math personality and Cornell University math professor.  Steven is the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor of Applied Mathematics at Cornell University, a New York Times best-selling author of popular books on mathematics and science, and the host of Quanta Magazine's "Joy of X" podcast.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Mathematical Society, and recipient of the Lewis Thomas Prize and the Euler Book Prize, among many other accolades.

Steven Strogatz’s books, The Joy of X, Infinite Powers, and The Calculus of Friendship: What a Teacher and a Student Learned about Life While Corresponding about Math, are also available to ship now from Additions, the shop at MoMath.

Hosted by MoMath's 2020-2021 Distinguished Visiting Professor for the Public Dissemination of Mathematics and Rutgers math professor Alex Kontorovich.

This is a live-streamed event.  Occasional video recordings are made available for a fee at videos.momath.org.
