Pentram Play Lab
Featuring Inventor Emil Simeonov
Tuesday, August 12
6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
(in person)
Step into a five-sided world of possibility. Guided by Pentram creator Emil Simeonov, you’ll explore this elegant cousin of the tangram — eight golden-ratio triangles cut from a regular pentagon and brimming with mathematical surprises. Emil will share the puzzle’s origin story, reveal its links to Fibonacci numbers and Penrose tilings, then turn you loose on a series of hands-on challenges: rebuild the entire pentagon (in more than one way!), experiment with striking non-convex silhouettes, and invent brand-new patterns of your own. Along the way you’ll glimpse an unsolved question that still intrigues researchers and see how even “wrong” attempts can spark fresh ideas. Whether you’re a first-time puzzler or a seasoned tiler, come play, create, and discover!
