Explorations in Geometry

For 3rd through 6th graders,
six weeks only!

Sundays at 2:45 pm
March 1 through April 5

Does your child have a keen interest in geometric exploration?  Gifted and motivated students in 3rd through 6th grade are invited to participate in an exclusive, hands-on exploration of geometric ideas with visiting mathematician Paul Zeitz.  Explore three-dimensional geometry with Zometools and two-dimensional geometry through classic compass-and-straightedge constructions.  This will be a fun and challenging experience, aimed specifically at bright students who are not being challenged in their everyday school experience.  Space is extremely limited; apply soon!

Application Process

To apply, please complete this online form (also available via the "Apply Now" buttons at the top or bottom of this page) and follow the instructions provided upon submission.  Once students are accepted into the program, they may register for Explorations in Geometry.

Schedule

Explorations in Geometry will meet on Sundays, from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm, starting March 1, 2020.  The dates are:

  • March 1
  • March 8
  • March 15
  • March 22
  • March 29
  • April 5

Pricing

The early bird registration fee is $495.  (Members at the Membership Squared level or above will receive a 10% discount).  MoMath does not prorate fees for mid-term registrations, and refunds will not be given for absences or for any other reasons.

Need-based scholarships are available.  Scholarship applicants must meet the income guidelines of the federal Free and Reduced Lunch program and provide verification of household income.  Scholarship applicants should complete the regular application form online and send a separate email to scholarships@momath.org with a request for scholarship application instructions.  Please allow at least two weeks for the scholarship committee’s review process.

Policies

MoMath will make every effort to run classes as scheduled, but occasionally severe inclement weather or other unusual circumstances beyond MoMath's control may require that a class be cancelled.  If such a cancellation occurs, MoMath may, at its sole discretion, offer make-up sessions.

Note that this program will run only if a minimum number of participants register before the start date.  In the rare event that this program is cancelled, registrants will be notified and provided with a full refund.

Adult chaperones may wait in the lobby or in Additions, the shop at MoMath.

All participants in Explorations in Geometry are expected to exhibit good behavior to ensure a positive experience for everyone.  At its sole discretion, MoMath may remove a student from Explorations in Geometry for behavioral reasons.  If a student is removed for behavioral reasons, for either the day or the remainder of the program, no refund will be issued.
