Join MoMath at Volumes, the MoMath book club on November 17 to discuss The Mathematician’s Shiva: A Novel by Stuart Rojstaczer.

When the greatest female mathematician in history passes away, her son, Alexander “Sasha” Karnokovitch, just wants to mourn his mother in peace.  But rumor has it that the notoriously eccentric Polish émigré has solved one of the most difficult problems in mathematics, the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, and may have taken the solution to her grave.  A motley group of mathematicians from around the world descend upon Rachela’s shiva, determined to find the proof or solve it for themselves.

Don’t miss the discussion of this multilayered (debut) novel full of colorful characters; it's an exploration of humanity’s drive not just to survive, but to solve the impossible. Refreshments will be served.
