How were those amazing optics in the Luminaries exhibition created, and how do they make pictures?  What is the connection to sand castles?  And how did Napoleon and Stalin get into this story?  Join us for a conversation with artist and inventor Matthew Brand about the curious mathematical history of his freeform lumographic lenses.  Brand, who is also the artist behind Light Grooves, MoMath's holographic metalwork, will give a brief presentation to start the conversation, and he just might demonstrate some exotic optics you've never seen before.
