Recording of Write Angles: "Code Breaking: Patterns and Sequences" with Rebecca Roberts, Caitlin Miller, Dexter Senft, and Peter Winkler

This is a recording of a live-streamed event that took place on Thursday, September 24, 2020.

Appropriate for ages 14 and up.

Perhaps nowhere is the intersection of math and words more obvious than in cryptography.  Even if a code does not use numbers or letters at all, the only way to break it is to recognize patterns and understand what comes next.  Can you combine your math and language skills to crack the code and decipher the secret message?  Join us for this second program from 23 18 9 20 5 1 14 7 12 5 19.

Write Angles is a collaboration between MoMath and Planet Word, offering three exciting programs at the intersection of math and language.

Planet Word, an interactive museum exploring the joy and wonder of words and language, is opening in the historic Franklin School in Washington, D.C. this fall.
