"Magic Squares"

with Shaula Fiorelli

Friday, August 4 at 6:30 pm

(in person)

Picture a tic-tac-toe grid filled with numbers, where the numbers magically add to the same total in all directions, including diagonally.  Is it even possible to create a square like this?  What about a square with four numbers in each direction?  And if it is possible, do you think someone can do it in less than a minute, for any total at all?  Come see the magic before your very own eyes — and learn how to do it yourself!  Join mathematician Shaula Fiorelli for a fun-filled evening of magical mathematical creation.

Thanks to the generous support of Two Sigma, this program is free to attendees.
