MathPlay for Pentagons (5s):

"Odds and Evens"

Tuesday, March 30 at 5:45 pm ET (New York)

What is the difference between an odd number and an even number?  What happens when you add odd and even numbers together?  Children will explore these questions as they classify numbers as odd or even.  They will discover that an even number of items can be matched in pairs while an odd number cannot.  Children will have fun finding the odd and even numbers in the story Even Steven and Odd Todd by Kathryn Cristaldi.

Materials needed: activity sheets to be provided (to print prior to session) and one marker or pencil.
