Code Talker: A Novel About the Navajo Marines of World War Two
by Joseph Bruchac

Navajo code talkers were a crucial part of the U.S. effort in the Pacific Theater of World War II, transmitting mission-critical messages based on the little-known — and complex — Navajo language.  Code talkers braved some of the heaviest fighting of the war and saved countless American lives, but their story remained classified for more than twenty years.

Joseph Bruchac brings this chapter of American history to life for young adults through the riveting fictional tale of Ned Begay, a sixteen-year-old Navajo boy who becomes a code talker.  His grueling journey is eye-opening and inspiring.  This deeply moving novel honors not only the young men who dared to serve but also the culture and language of the Navajo Nation.

This is a live-streamed event.  Occasional video recordings are made available for a fee at videos.momath.org
