Meet a Mathematician:
Dr. Liz Bouzarth

Monday, June 19 at 4:00 pm ET

(online)

Did you ever wonder what a mathematician does all day?  Or what made someone decide to become a mathematician?  Or even, what a mathematician does for fun?  You may be surprised by some of the answers!  Join Tim Chartier, MoMath’s 2022–2023 Distinguished Visiting Professor for the Public Dissemination of Mathematics, as he brings diverse and talented guests to the MoMath stage to share their experiences, their stories, and their love of mathematics.

Meet Dr. Liz Bouzarth, mathematics professor at Furman University.  Budding mathematicians may have come across her work at Walt Disney World, where she developed and led Math and the Mouse, a study-away course that immerses students in the math of Disney theme parks!  Dr. Bouzarth has also been active in sports analytics, working on projects for ESPN related to March Madness.  She received her mathematics PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Bachelor's Degree in math and physics from Dickinson College, and has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and mentoring.

Please note that this is an online-only event; all registrants will be participating remotely.  Occasional video recordings are made available for a fee at videos.momath.org.
