Family Fridays:
"Chess Challenge"

Friday, March 11 at 6:30 pm ET (New York)

(in person)

A chess board is full of mathematical secrets and surprises!  Join Alisa Melekhina, internationally ranked chess master and world team championship gold medalist, for an evening exploring the mathematical properties of chess.  Whether you are a chess or math beginner or you're already a whiz, your whole family will be able to participate in a puzzle competition involving geometric and coordinate-based chess challenges.  You'll also hear from Alisa, now a practicing corporate litigator, about her journey as a young, female chess player competing at the highest levels through scholastic and international competitions.  Chess boards will be set up for casual play during the event.  Join us for an engaging, chess-filled evening to challenge, chat, and enjoy!

This is an in-person event at the National Museum of Mathematics at 11 East 26th Street in NYC.  Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the event to complete registration.

Note that masks must be worn at all times inside the Museum and that all visitors ages five and up must show acceptable proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.  (Note: MoMath does not accept digital images or photocopies of vaccination cards.)
