“I learned a lot about math, just not math content. The power of stepping away and then retracing your steps; the importance of being aware of your own thinking, such that you can remain open to new ideas that you hadn’t initially considered.”

Math Explorations
an eight-week minicourse
with Steven Strogatz
Tuesdays at 6:30 pm ET (New York)
September 21, 28
October 5, 12, 19
November 2, 9, 16
In person and online!
Appropriate for adults; high school students also welcome.
Don’t miss the first minicourse of the year from the 2021-2022 Distinguished Visiting Professor for the Public Dissemination of Mathematics, Steven Strogatz. Participants will explore hands-on activities in mathematical games, puzzles, algebra, geometry, calculus, and group theory. Strogatz, Professor of Applied Mathematics from Cornell University and an award-winning mathematician, will bring his unique brand of mathematical discourse, as featured in the New York Times blog and several popular books, including New York Times bestseller Infinite Powers, to the MoMath audience this fall. And a special bonus for those attending the first night in person… join us for some casual conversation and a walk in the park, literally, with Steve as we head out for an after-event edible treat, compliments of MoMath.
You can join Math Explorations in person at the Museum (11 East 26th Street) — or online by participating in a live-stream broadcast of the event.
