MathPlay colorful word

MathPlay Mini is back this summer by popular demand!

Monday, August 3 and Wednesday, August 5

Led by an experienced preschool specialist, MathPlay Mini offers children the opportunity to play well-developed games that help broaden math skills, improve problem-solving skills, and enhance communication skills.  Recent studies have shown that a child’s math skills upon entering kindergarten can be a strong predictor of future academic performance in both math and reading throughout the elementary grades.  Math learning promotes working memory, improves attention, and increases other basic cognitive skills.

Engage your preschoolers in playful activities to help them develop a strong foundation in math.  Children will participate in songs, stories, and activities tied to a different theme each week.  Patterns, shapes, numbers, and more — MathPlay Mini is a great way to enrich your child’s day with mathematical inspiration.

Sessions Themes

MathPlay Mini’s online sessions offer several inspiring, mathematical themes for children ages three to five.

Tall, Taller, Tallest (3-year-olds)

Which building is tallest?  Which snake is shortest?  Students will compare heights and lengths, draw objects of different sizes, and sing “Tall and Short” action songs with movements as they learn all about relative size.

Materials needed: activity sheets (will be provided to print prior to session) and one marker or crayon.

Count by Sight (4- and 5-year-olds)

Students will learn how to quickly identify the number of items in a small group without counting, engaging in fun addition and subtraction activities with dice, tally marks, and ten frames.

Materials needed: activity sheets (will be provided to print prior to session) and one marker or crayon.

Registration Fees

Classes are $45 per session. Two classes per week are free for MoMath members.  Additionally, free spots in every class have been set aside for families with financial need; simply register early for these limited spots.
