Online Topological Crochet
"Saddle Trefoil Scarf, the Intersection of Form and Function"
Sunday, December 1
3:00 pm to 4:30 pm ET
(online)

Past and current participants of MoMath’s Topological Crochet series are invited to an online holiday workshop as the award-winning mathematical artist Shiying Dong teaches you how to crochet a mathematically-nontrivial saddle trefoil scarf. Learn about the mathematics behind this topological crochet design while making a unique gift that will warm the hearts — and necks — of loved ones! Must be a past or current registrant of a Topological Crochet or Online Topological Crochet series to participate.
Materials required: Please have two colors of worsted-weight yarn (one for the body and one for the boundary), crochet hook, 54 inches of 250 lb. monofilament fishing line with non-insulated butt connectors of type 18-22 AWG, split ring stitch markers (or small locking stitch markers), darning needle, scissors or a yarn cutter, wire cutters, and pliers.
Helpful tools: Blocking pins, scrap yarn ball, and a cushion or foam board.
This is an online-only event; all registrants will be participating remotely. The session will open just before the listed start time. Occasional video recordings are made available for a fee at videos.momath.org.
