Sports Analytics Research Group

Tuesdays, September 27 through November 8*
6:30 pm to 7:30 pm ET (New York)

Appropriate for college students and up.

(online)

Memorable sports moments emerge every week.  This informal research group, hosted by Distinguished Visiting Professor Tim Chartier, will gather to discuss analytics questions from recent sporting events.  Find a topic interesting?  Explore on your own or form a group, then dive in and share your findings in the coming week’s session.  What can we learn from each other, and what can we create and discover through our collective knowledge and expertise?  Along the way, we will create a MoMath community of sports analysts!

Coding experience is not required, but those who can code will have the opportunity to do so.  Rather than a traditional class, this is a research group in which participants will share expertise, discuss trends in sports, and break off into subgroups to explore and present their findings.  The sessions do not depend on one another; participants may attend one, all, or as many as they wish.

Or register for individual sessions:

*There will be no class on November 1, as MoMath will be celebrating its annual gala.

These are online-only events.  Occasional video recordings are made available for a fee at videos.momath.org.
