What does the ancient Japanese art of paper folding have to do with airbags and space telescopes? How do mathematical techniques facilitate origami designs of mind-blowing complexity and realism? Unfold a new appreciation of origami as Robert Lang, one of the foremost origami artists in the world and a pioneer in computational origami, shows how a theory originally developed for its own sake has led to some surprising practical applications as well as a whole new genre of art. Robert will be introduced by Nancy Zimpher, 12th Chancellor of the State University of New York.
