Song Lyrics: Write your own lyrics to a favorite tune (or compose an original one) and record it.

  1. The lyrics must be original.

     
  2. The word "pi" must be used at least 3 times.

     
  3. Contestants must name the tune to which their lyrics will be sung or indicate that the tune is original.

     
  4. A copy of the lyrics must accompany the entry.

     
  5. You must send an audio file of your song.

 

Pi-merick: Create a limerick with pi as the subject of your poem.

  1. The limerick must be original.
     
  2. Your pi-merick must consist of five lines.
     
  3. The rhyme scheme is aabba. (In other words, lines one, two, and five all rhyme with each other, and lines three and four rhyme with each other.)
     
  4. Try to follow the typical rhythm of a limerick, like this:
    bah-BAH bah-bah-BAH bah-bah-BAH
    bah-BAH bah-bah-BAH bah-bah-BAH
    bah-BAH bah-bah-BAH
    bah-BAH bah-bah-BAH
    bah-BAH bah-bah-BAH bah-bah-BAH
  5. Your limerick may consist of more than one verse. 

Pi-ku: Create a 3-lined poem in a loosely constructed haiku style.

  1. The poem must be original.
     
  2. The first line must contain 3 syllables or sounds, the second 14, and the third 15.
     
  3. Pi must be the subject of your poem.
