The Cartoon Guide to Statistics by Larry Gonick
Join MoMath's 2022–2023 Distinguished Visiting Professor Tim Chartier and author Larry Gonick for a lively discussion of Gonick's The Cartoon Guide to Statistics. Larry Gonick is a cartoonist who has written 18 books including The Cartoon Guide to Statistics, The Cartoon Guide to Calculus, and The Cartoon Guide to Algebra. Gonick has earned the distinction of being "the most well-known and respected of cartoonists who have applied their craft to unravelling the mysteries of science."
The Cartoon Guide to Statistics covers central ideas of statistics: the summary and display of data, probability in gambling and medicine, random variables, Bernoulli Trials, the Central Limit Theorem, hypothesis testing, confidence interval estimation, and much more — all explained in simple, clear, and yes, funny illustrations.
