Students will learn that when you take a whole shape and divide it into equal parts, the parts are called fractions. They will learn how to distinguish between a whole, half, third, and a quarter. Students will identify the denominator, which indicates the number of equal parts into which something is divided, and the numerator, which indicates the number of parts that are visible.
Materials needed: activity sheets to be provided (to print prior to session) and one marker or pencil.
